This is a description of the SpamGuard Available on the Standard Email Accounts

To modify your SpamGuard Settings Click Here

These are settings that you can customize to determine what is filtered from you email:

Threshold:
The threshold defines the level at which an email message is tagged as spammy. The lower this level is set, the more mail will be tagged as spam. If it is set to less than zero (a negative number), then most of the mail you receive will be tagged. The default setting is 8, does a good job of tagging spam, and not tagging non-spam. We do not recommend a value less than 5.

If a message is tagged it arrives in your Inbox with a **Spam** in the subject line and you can setup a custom filter to route it directly to a designated folder.  You can also set the filter to bounce spam back to sender so you will never see it in your inbox.

Blacklists
Blacklists allow you to define email addresses that will always be tagged as spam. What this means is that for anyone who sends mail that accidentally doesn't get tagged as spam, you can add them here, and they will always get tagged as spam, thereby making your life easier.

Examples:
If you wanted to block a specific user, you would enter their entire email address, like joe@isp.com.  If you wanted to block an entire domain, then you would enter star "*", the "at" (@) sign, and the domain. Like this: *@isp.com

Whitelists
Whitelists allow you to define email addresses that will never be tagged as spam. What this means is that for anyone who sends mail that accidentally gets tagged as spam, you can add them here, and they won't get tagged this way, thereby making your life easier.

Examples:
If you wanted to allow a specific user, you would enter their entire email address, like joe@isp.com.  If you wanted to allow an entire domain, then you would enter star "*" the "at" (@) sign, and the domain. Like this:
*@isp.com

This may sound complicated, but don't let it scare you, "using the default settings" the spam filter is set to provide optimum protection for the majority of users, if you find you need to tweak the settings we would be glad to assist you!
